The qualities of a good teacher

The global populations in medical and allied teaching fields are affected with coronavirus disease. An attempt has been made to elicit the qualities to be acquired by teachers amid this pandemic. A teacher is considered as an immortal soul destined to deliver never ending knowledge and his charisma has a major influence in his disciples and his mentors. The teacher should teach the students about the known things first and second, the unknown things to be taught by having discussions and giving assignments. The teacher should develop positive, productive, and stress free environment to gather and share information with the disciples. The teacher should listen to the problem encountered during learning and should execute time schedule for effective listening. The quality of patience to be practiced by the teacher to become a good listener. The teachers should institute cognitive, emotional, and behavioral model of psychological teaching to the students’ motivated interest in the subject.^[1] The teachers should be lifelong learners.^[2] The teachers should communicate the recent updates with the students and make the complex things simpler by acquiring more knowledge gathered from continuing dental education programs such as updates, workshops, and conferences. The teachers should execute five mainstays of emotional intelligence such as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills to his disciples.^[3] Critical thinking skill is a goal oriented skill which enhances the quality of careful reader and creative writer in a teacher.^[4] Job crafting behavior is the one which doing the job proficiently, pleasing, charming, and meaningful with vibrant positive mental health.^[5] The most important quality to be acquired by a teacher is calm and polite attitude.^[6] To sum up, it is clear that if you accomplish the above ideal qualities of a teacher, you can win hearts of your students, and your mentor and the above qualities may continue to transmit it to future generations.
